9 killed as microbus carrying wedding party falls into canal in Barguna

Death toll may rise

At least nine people have been killed in a road accident after a microbus carrying a wedding party plunged into a canal after a bridge collapsed in Amtali, Barguna.
The accident took place on a bridge connecting Naura and Haludia Bazar around 2pm on Saturday, said Amtali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shakhawat Hossain Tipu.
A total of nine bodies, including 7 women and two children, have been recovered till filing of this report at 8pm.
The death toll may increase, the OC said, adding that the microbus is still under water.
Relatives of the victims claimed that at least seven others, including the driver, remain missing.
