Shots fired from Myanmar on passenger vessel near St Martin
A passenger trawler on the Naf River, returning from Coxs Bazar Saint Martin Island, came under fire from Myanmar on Tuesday morning.
While no casualties were reported, the trawler was hit by bullets in several areas.
The incident occurred near the Badramokam estuary, when the trawler, owned by Abdur Rashid, was on its way back to Teknaf.
The vessel later docked at the Shahpari Island jetty, safely unloading passengers.
It remains unclear whether the shots were fired by government forces or rebels, though the Arakan Army, a rebel group, controls much of Myanmar Rakhine State.
