BCDS meeting held
The Bangladesh Chemist and Druggist Samity (BCDS), Bera, organized its general meeting on Saturday at the Bera Municipality auditorium. The event addressed critical issues related to pharmaceutical practices and drug regulations.
Md. Morshidul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Bera, attended the meeting as the chief guest. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and following the guidelines set by the Bangladesh Drug Administration.
Md. Nazmul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Drug Administration in Pabna, served as a special guest. He reminded members that selling low-quality, expired, or adulterated medicines is strictly prohibited and assured attendees that the drug administration office is always open to receive complaints.
Another special guest, Md. Rokonuzzaman, Drug Superintendent of Pabna, highlighted that only 39 Over-the-Counter (OTC) drugs are approved for sale without a prescription. He issued a strong warning to BCDS members, emphasizing that no medicines should be sold without proper prescriptions.
Several other distinguished guests spoke at the event, including Md. Mizanur Rahman, Upazila Livestock Officer; Md. Waliur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Bera Model Thana; Md. Abdul Hannan, President of the Bera Press Club; Md. Dipu, Secretary of the Bera Press Club; Dr. A. Bakee; Md. Raja; Mr. Tarek; A. Latif; Md. Ibrahim Hossain; and Pintu.
The speakers unanimously agreed on the need to combat drug resistance through enhanced awareness and motivational efforts among the community and stakeholders.
Md. Nazmul Islam presided over the meeting, while Md. Liton conducted the program.
