Fire destroys everything of a widow

A devastating fire completely destroyed the home of Nergis Akter, a resident of Koitola village in Bera Upazila, Pabna, on the evening of February 16. The incident occurred between 6:00 and 6:30 PM when Nergis was not at home.
According to local sources, as soon as the fire broke out, neighbors rushed to the scene and attempted to extinguish the flames. However, due to the rapid spread of the fire, their efforts were in vain. By the time the fire was brought under control, everything in her residence had been reduced to ashes.
Nergis Akter, who lost her husband Rinku three years ago when their child was just 22 days old, has now lost all her belongings in this tragic incident. Rinku, who was from an impoverished background, had struggled to provide for his family before his untimely death.
Locals suspect that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit. While no casualties were reported, the fire has left Nergis in extreme distress. Witnesses say she has been inconsolable since the incident, as she has lost everything except her life.
Residents of the village are urging the Bera Upazila administration to provide immediate assistance to Nergis, who is in urgent need of relief and support.
