Meeting on Natiional Disaster Management held

Bera Upazila Parishad hosted a meeting on national disaster management on March 10. The session was presided over by Md. Morshidul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Bera. A keynote presentation was delivered by the Project Implementation Officer, highlighting key aspects of disaster preparedness.
The discussion focused on preparedness before, during, and after disasters. It was noted that Bangladesh has significant experience in disaster management compared to many other countries.
In response to a query, the Station Manager of Bera Fire Brigade stated that 500–600 volunteers had already been trained in disaster management. He also mentioned that fire incidents, one of the most common disasters, have decreased by 50% compared to 2021–2022.
Additionally, the Upazila Primary Education Officer emphasized the need to remove unsafe buildings from school campuses to ensure student safety.
Among the attendees was Md. Abdul Hannan, President of Bera Press Club. The issue of lightning strikes as a disaster threat was also discussed.
The program commenced with a rally on the Upazila Parishad campus.
