Mauritius High Commission organized a blood donation prog

On the occasion of the Festival of Youth 2025, the Bangladesh High Commission, Port Louis, Mauritius in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness of the Republic of Mauritius has organized a voluntary blood donation program.
Expatriate Bangladeshis and members of the High Commission spontaneously took part in the programme held at the Bangladesh High Commission, Port Louis on 26 January 2025, Sunday, from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. The event was held in cooperation with National Blood Transfusion Service of Mauritius. Around 128 Bangladeshi volunteers, members of business, social and cultural organisations donated blood and platelets. The Muhammad Reza Cassam Uteem, Minister of Labour and Industrial Relations of the Republic of Mauritius inaugurated the event as the chief guest with the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Mauritius Mr. Zokey Ahad in the chair. Dr. A. Dinassing, Ag. Director General Health Services, Ministry of Health and Wellness also was present at the Program.
At the outset, The High Commissioner Mr. Zokey Ahad paid his deepest tribute to the martyrs and survivors of the July Revolution of 2024. He expressed his gratitude towards all participants of the blood donation program and said that blood has no substitute and it is a special gift from Bangladeshi expatriates to the Mauritian citizens. He stated that the High Commission would continue such philanthropic work and also hoped that the Bangladeshi expatriates would continue their cooperation and support in this regard.
The Muhammad Reza Cassam Uteem, Minister of Labour and Industrial Relations said that the blood donation program, organized by Bangladesh High Commission is a unique example. Expatriates are part of the Mauritian family and their spontaneous participation in the service of humanity is exemplary for all. He highly appreciated the program organized by the Bangladesh High Commission in Mauritius and said that no embassy/high commission has organized any such program so far.
Such a magnificent initiative of the Mission received spontaneous response from the expatriate Bangladeshis and the officials of the High Commission. All the donors received a “Certificate of Appreciation”. The Mauritian and the expatriate Bangladeshis highly appreciated the initiative, taken by the Bangladesh High Commission on the auspicious occasion of the “Festival of Youth 2025”. Around 128 bags of blood were collected at the program. The program was attended by local people along with the expatriates who donated blood enthusiastically. The event received very large coverage through the Mauritian Television and Radio Media.
