ISD launches Young Sustainability Award to make green citizens

International School Dhaka (ISD) has launched a Young Sustainability Award to create more awareness about environment among the young minds at the campus.
Accordingly, student projects will be nominated for the award, which would recognise the most innovative and creative idea to help beat plastic pollution, a major environmental concern in Bangladesh at present.
The award has been introduced in line with theme of the Sustainability Day observed globally on October 26 with the theme #BeatPlasticPollution. ISD offers International Baccalaureate curricula, also aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
As per rules, the contestants need to identify a specific issue either locally, nationally or globally, comprise a written piece, a speech and a practical, and show evidence of how it was made.
“Education has the power to help people overcome many complex issues. Our programmes at ISD equip students with the knowledge they need to have and engage with the SDGs as informed global citizens,” Steve Calland-Scoble, Director at ISD, noted.
He added that the ISD students have already been taking such initiatives to promote sustainability and their efforts and ideas would be celebrated at the award ceremony to be held on the ISD campus later in the year.
The school has a green committee and is continuously taking steps to integrate sustainability as a core practice and value in all aspects of the community.
