Sujan visits ICF in Chennai

At the last leg of his India tour, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today visited the Integral Coach Factory Chennai (ICF), a manufacturer of rail coaches located in Perambur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
The minister visited the production facilities at Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) shed of ICF and also inspected special coaches made by the ICF like LHB Vistadome coaches, LHB AC 2 tier and 3 tier coaches and Air-conditioned Self Propelled Inspection Cars (SPIC) there.
Later, the minister held a discussion with A.K. Agarwal, GM, ICF and other senior officials of Indian Railway, according to ICF sources.
During the meeting, the Bangladesh railway minister said that the ICF rail coaches can play an important role in modernising Bangladesh railway since Bangladesh has taken a project to upgrade its railway tracks from Meter Gauge to Broad Gauge.
He expressed the hope that Bangladesh Railway will explore the possibility of importing train sets for mass communications. In this connection, he said, a team of Bangladesh would soon visit ICF to find further process of export of coaches from ICF to Bangladesh.
The minister arrived here on May 28 on a week-long official visit. During the visit, he along with his Indian counterpart virtually flagged off the third India-Bangladesh train service “Mitali Express” on June 1 from the Rail Bhaban in New Delhi.
Apart from this, he also visited a number of Railway deports, coach factories and locomotive workshops in Lucknow and Banaras in Uttor Pradesh. The minister will leave Chennai for Dhaka today.
