TikTok has released its Q2 2024 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, showcasing its ongoing commitment to creating a safe digital space for its users. The report, which covers data from April to June 2024, details the proactive steps TikTok has taken to identify and remove content that violates its Community Guidelines, ensuring a positive experience for its global community.
In this quarter, TikTok removed a total of 178,827,465 videos worldwide, which represents about 1.0% of all content uploaded to the platform. Of the removed videos, 144,430,133 were detected and taken down using automated detection technologies, while 5,394,318 videos were reinstated after further review. The proactive removal rate stood at 98.2%, with 93.5% of the flagged content removed within 24 hours of posting.
The report indicates that a significant portion of removed videos—31%—contained sensitive or mature themes that did not align with TikTok content policies. An additional 15.1% of videos breached the platform safety and civility standards, while 4.7% violated privacy and security guidelines.
In Bangladesh, the report showed a marked increase in content moderation. A total of 12,158,745 videos were removed in Q2 2024, compared to 7,171,832 in Q1. Proactive removal rates in Bangladesh remained high at 99.6%, with 97.2% of these videos removed within 24 hours.
Similar to last quarter, TikTok will continue to provide a summary of the Covert Influence Operations (CIO) networks removed, while detailed information on individual operations disrupted is available in a new standalone report.
