TikTok, BTRC host Digital Safety Summit

TikTok, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), hosted the Digital Safety Summit Bangladesh 2025 today for the first time in Dhaka. The summit brought together thought leaders, safety experts, policymakers, and content creators to foster discussions on creating a safer and more responsible online environment.
The summit served as a dynamic platform to address the evolving challenges of digital safety, particularly for the youth of Bangladesh. Key discussions focused on online security, digital literacy, combating misinformation, and promoting healthy digital habits.
Ferdous Al Mottakin, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, South Asia at TikTok, emphasized the company commitment to digital safety: "At TikTok, user safety is our top priority. We believe that through continuous collaboration with regulators, experts, and our community, we can create a secure online space for our users in Bangladesh so they can express themselves freely and responsibly."
Maj Gen Md Emdad Ul Bari, OSP, ndc, psc, te (retd), the Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), highlighted the importance of collective efforts in ensuring digital safety: "As the digital landscape rapidly evolves, safeguarding our online community, especially the youth, is more critical than ever. Through partnerships with platforms like TikTok, we aim to promote responsible digital behavior, enhance cybersecurity awareness, and create a safer, more resilient digital ecosystem for all Bangladeshis."
Panel sessions featured notable speakers from government bodies, tech industry leaders, and digital influencers who shared insights on best practices for online safety, responsible content creation, and strategies to mitigate cyber threats.
The event also highlighted TikTok latest safety features, educational initiatives, and its partnership with BTRC to strengthen digital safety measures across Bangladesh.
