Call for unity to build new country inspired by August revolution: Jamaat Ameer
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has called for national unity to build a new Bangladesh free from corruption and misrule, guided by the principles of the Quran and Sunnah.
Speaking as the chief guest at an Iftar gathering in Kafrul, Dhaka, he emphasized the need to establish an Islamic welfare state to ensure justice and good governance. The event was organized by Jamaat Kafrul Thana North unit, with Thana Ameer Rezaul Karim presiding and Secretary Hafez Ashiqur Rahman conducting the session.
Highlighting the significance of fasting, Dr. Rahman quoted Hadith-e-Qudsi, stating, “Fasting is only for Me, and I will reward it Myself.” He further referenced the Quranic verse:
"Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the decisive authority. So whoever is present this month, let them fast.”
Dr. Rahman asserted that Islam offers comprehensive solutions to human problems, unlike other failed ideologies. He urged the people to follow Islamic teachings in their daily lives and unite to establish Islam as a complete code of life (Deen).
Criticizing past governance, he claimed that Bangladesh has been ruled under various ideologies—including nationalism, secularism, and socialism—resulting in widespread corruption, bribery, and violence. He stressed that only an Islamic welfare state could rid the country of these vices.
“To ensure peace in this world and salvation in the Hereafter, we must unite under the banner of Islam,” he said, calling for collective efforts to build a new Bangladesh inspired by the spirit of the August Revolution.
Jamaat central working committee member and Dhaka North Nayeb-e-Ameer, Abdur Rahman Musa, also spoke as a special guest, emphasizing Ramadan role in self-purification and urging people to apply its teachings in all aspects of life.
Other notable attendees included Bangladesh Labor Welfare Central Vice-President Lashker Muhammad Taslim, Jamaat Dhaka City North Working Committee Member Shahidullah, Shura Member Abdul Matin Khan, Ahasan Habib, and Thana Nayeb-e-Ameer Alauddin.
