Human chain demands to stop violence against women, children

A human chain and rally titled "Preventing Violence Against Women and Children, Ensuring Safety, and Establishing Justice" was organized today at 10:00 AM on the Dhaka University campus. The event was initiated by the Department of Criminology.
Students, teachers, and officials participating in the demonstration voiced deep concerns over the rising incidents of violence, criminal tendencies, and the prevailing culture of impunity. Speakers stressed the need for stronger crime prevention measures, enhanced social security, and easier access to justice.
Addressing the gathering, Shaharia Afrin, Chairperson of the Criminology Department, stated, "Rape cannot be equated with other crimes; it must be investigated and prosecuted as a distinct and heinous offense." She further underscored the urgency of implementing a zero-tolerance policy against rape and violence at all levels—state, society, and countrywide.
