Pakistan day flag hoisting ceremony held in Dhaka
The High Commission for Pakistan in Dhaka commemorated Pakistan Day with a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony at the Chancery this morning.
Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, hoisted the national flag as the national anthem played, marking the historic occasion of March 23, 1940. On this day, leaders of the Pakistan Movement, under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, passed the Lahore Resolution, laying the foundation for an independent homeland for Muslims in South Asia.
Messages from Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out, highlighting the significance of the day and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to progress and unity.
In his address, the High Commissioner extended greetings to the Pakistani diaspora in Bangladesh and Bhutan. He paid tribute to those who sacrificed for the creation of Pakistan and emphasized the importance of preserving their legacy while working towards a strong and prosperous nation. Mr. Maroof also acknowledged the contributions of leaders from Bengal in the Pakistan Movement.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Pakistani community in Bangladesh, representatives from the local media, and staff of the High Commission.
