BASIS organizes Iftar to strengthen networking
To enhance networking within the information technology sector, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) hosted an Iftar event on March 23, 2025, at a city hotel in Dhaka. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser; Shish Haider Chowdhury, ndc, Secretary, Information and Communication Technology Division; and Mahbubur Rahman, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce.
The event brought together BASIS Associate Committees, BASIS members, industry leaders, and key stakeholders, reinforcing solidarity and development in Bangladesh growing ICT sector. The program was moderated by Md. Emrul Kayes Porag, Member (Admin), of the BASIS Associate Committee.
In his speech, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb highlighted the pivotal role of the ICT sector in Bangladesh economic transformation. He stated, "The ICT industry is a key driver of Bangladesh economic progress, and the government stands beside organizations like BASIS in advancing this sector. The role of the ICT industry is crucial in building a prosperous Bangladesh, creating employment, boosting exports, and fostering the growth of the local technology industry. With policy support and infrastructure development, we are working towards transforming Bangladesh into a technology-driven economy. We are optimistic that Bangladesh will emerge as a global hub for software and IT services in the coming days."
Secretary of the ICT Division, Shish Haider Chowdhury, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in ICT sector development. He said, "BASIS plays a pioneering role in the growth of Bangladesh ICT sector. The government remains committed to creating a supportive environment for innovation and entrepreneurship in this field."
Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman acknowledged the increasing global demand for Bangladesh ICT products and services. He remarked, "BASIS is playing a vital role in positioning Bangladesh digital sector competitively on the international stage. The Ministry of Commerce is committed to formulating policies that will facilitate the expansion of digital trade."
BASIS Administrator Dr. Muhammed Mehedi Hassan expressed gratitude to the honored guests and ICT industry members, stating, "BASIS is relentlessly working to elevate Bangladesh ICT sector to new heights. Our collaboration with the government, industry leaders, and global partners will continue to drive innovation, investment, and growth in the digital economy."
BASIS Associate Committee Chairman, Rafel Kabir, underscored the significance of collective efforts for the sustainable growth of the ICT industry. He added, "This initiative by BASIS not only strengthens networking but also creates new opportunities for our members, contributing to the overall development of the industry."
