Taskin optimistic to be available for Sri Lanka tour

Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is hopeful to make him available for the national teams Sri Lanka tour in June after recovering from Achilles injury fully. Taskin has been now in rehab after being confirmed that he needs not a surgery to recover from the injury. He however had already started light bowling, something which he termed as good progress. He said, he has been following the rehab plan set by Bangladesh Cricket Boards (BCB) physio and trainer, along with a specialist from the UK. “Ive, so far, completed five sessions and also started light bowling,” Taskin told the reporters here today following his rehab session. “Everything is going well so far but it is difficult to set a specific date for my comeback.” “So far no complain. If things are going like this, it will be good for me,” he said, adding that he is hopeful of making a comeback in Sri Lanka series. “To be honest, were targeting the Sri Lanka. I am very optimistic about my comeback (in Sri Lanka).” The pace spearhead of Bangladesh has been in nice form despite his injury-prone nature. He however, explained the nature of his injury, saying that he has issues in both legs but the problem lies in left foot. “For fast bowlers, injury is something what is natural,” he said, adding that sometimes even if theres no pain, a scan might still reveal something. “In my case, I have issues in both legs, but its the left foot that gives me soreness since thats my landing foot.” Taskin also spoke of Shaun Tait, who was appointed as Bangladeshs fast bowling coach, replacing Andre Adams. He believes the former Australian speedster is able to bring valuable T20 insights to the Bangladesh national team. “He was a very good fast bowler and played a lot for Australia. He was one of the fastest bowlers in crickets history,” Taskin said of Tait. “He played T20s in the modern era and has experience in major T20 events. The best part is, we have a lot of T20 cricket this year.” Taksin said he also coached various franchise leagues which enriched him. “Hopefully, his experience will help us.” Tait coached Bangladeshi players during two BPL stints and also played in the competition. His familiarity with the Bangladesh players would come handy for the national team, Taskin said. “Actually, when youre in the national set-up, a coach can help with game awareness and some technical aspects, but bowlers mostly have to coach themselves,” he said. “However, when you have a big personality like Tait around, things become easier. Hopefully, his inclusion will benefit us.”
