UCB inaugurates its 229th branch at Tekerhat

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) inaugurated its 229th branch in Tekerhat on November 4, 2024 with the promise of providing top-notch banking services. UCB Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid inaugurated the branch in a gathering organized at the bank premises.
Officials of UCB local dignitaries and business leaders including Md Shazzad Hossoin, Vice-Chairman of UCB were also present at this event.

Banglalink brings in co-branded cards in collaboration with EBL and Mastercard

The innovative digital operator Banglalink, in collaboration with Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) and Mastercard, launched three new co-branded cards for Banglalink Orange Club members today.
Driven by an urge to empower the customers to help them reach their full potential, Banglalink keeps coming up with digital solutions and time-befitting offers for adding value. In its continuation, these 3 new co-branded cards – namely the Mastercard World Credit Card, Mastercard Titanium Credit Card, and Mastercard Prepaid Card – have been launched. Members of Banglalink Orange Club, a loyalty program for Banglalink users, can enjoy special offers and redeem reward points against their purchases using these cards.
Cardholders using the Titanium Credit Card will get a free card, while Mastercard World cardholders will get a 50% waiver on the issuance fee. Both cards will offer a zero annual/renewal fee on 24 transactions per year.

SIBL hid Tk7924cr default loans

The Social Islami Bank LTD (SIBL) – a second-generation commercial bank – has hidden a defaulted loan amount of Tk 7924 crore to Bangladesh Bank (BB).
A central bank deputy governor who also resigned on Monday cooperated with the SIBL to hide the large volume of defaulted loans.
Apart from this, the bank owned by S Alam Group is not able to declare dividends as a result of a shortfall in provision. A confidential report from the BB revealed such terrible information.
