Volker Turk expresses his gratitude to DU VC

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, has expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nayaz Ahmed Khan, for his support in successfully organizing a dialogue with students, including coordinators of the 2024 student movement that led a mass uprising to topple an authoritarian, corrupt, kleptocratic regime.
The information was confirmed by Dhaka University Public Relations Office on Monday.
In a message of thanks, Turk stated, "It was an honor to speak and exchange views with students from various disciplines at such an important venue at Dhaka University. The participation of young students in the dialogue was inspiring. I noticed these young people are firmly committed to promoting democracy and human rights in the future of Bangladesh. I was especially encouraged to see many young women in leadership roles. I reaffirm the full commitment of my office to support progress in human rights during this historic transformation in Bangladesh."
