Marina named chairperson of National Museum governing body
Internationally renowned architect Marina Tabassum has agreed to become the chairperson of the governing body of Bangladesh National Museum, according to an announcement by the Cultural Affairs Adviser to the interim government, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, on Thursday.
“We are glad Time magazine one of the 100 most influential people of 2024 Marina Tabassum has agreed to be the chairperson of Bangladesh National Museum governing body,” the adviser wrote.
Farooki shared the news on his Facebook page, expressing optimism about the celebrated architect leadership and vision for modernizing the museum. "We have been looking forward to someone who can lead the governing body of our National Museum. Someone who is aware of what happening with museums in the rest of the world, who has an unbiased understanding of our history and heritage, who has a keen interest in arts and who is aware of our present and can offer a vision to modernize museums," he wrote.
