Govt. to import livestock for breeding: Farida
Fisheries and Livestock Advisor Farida Akhter has said the government will import livestock from abroad for breeding, not for meat consumption.
“Although various quarters usually put a request for meat import aiming to make the meat price cheaper, but the government will not go on that way. Livestock will be imported for developing our indigenous breed,” she said.
The advisor said this while addressing a small dairy farmers rally organized by Sammilito Khamari Parishad at Haripur Govt. Primary School premises under Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidha district yesterday, a press release of the ministry today said.
The advisor said, we produce huge quantities of daily milk, but there is no milk treasure in the country. So, we will make milk treasure through establishing a cattle hub.”
