Dhaka for innovative solution for Rohingya crisis
Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin today expressed hope that the upcoming High-Level Conference under the aegis of the UN, to be held in New York, would offer innovative solutions over the Rohingya crisis.
He made the remarks as UNHCR Executive Committee Chair Ambassador Marcelo Vazquez-Bermudez met him at the foreign ministry here, said a ministry press release.
During the meeting, they discussed the Rohingya crisis highlighting funding shortages, Myanmar political situation, the UN Secretary-General recent visit to Bangladesh, and efforts for repatriation of Rohingya people.
They emphasized on the urgent need for enhanced international support to effectively address the crisis.
The Foreign Secretary emphasized Bangladesh continuous diplomatic efforts.
The Foreign Secretary highlighted the strain on host communities and called for greater global cooperation, stressing Bangladesh commitment to repatriation of the Rohingyas.
