Biplobi Gano Jote calls for simplifying registration process of political party

20 May, 2025 : Biplobi Gano Jote, a coalition of seven political parties, today urged the Election Commission (EC) to simplify the existing laws regarding the registration process of political parties. A seven-member delegation of the coalition made the demand during a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at Nirbachan Bhaban in the citys Agargaon area. After the meeting, Abdul Momen, Coordinator of the Jote and General Secretary of the Gano Mukti Party, told journalists that they discussed how to simplify the political party registration process. They also urged the EC to grant registration to political parties that have a central committee and a central office in Dhaka. "The 1/11 government enacted a barbaric law in the name of party registration, and later the Sheikh Hasina government made it even more difficult," Momen said, adding that the alliance had protested these moves at the time. The commission assured the delegation that it would consider implementing some of the coalitions proposals as pilot projects, he added. Among others present at the meeting were President of Bangladesh Sarbojanin Party Nur Mohammad Monir, President of Bangladesh Garib Party Md Didar Hossain, Convener of Bangladesh Peace Forum Jasim Uddin Raja, General Secretary of Proyato Neta Smriti Sangsad Alok Chowdhury, Politburo Member of Bangladesh Samyabadi Dal Ahmed Hossain, and Green Party leader Md Mozammel Haque
