Gas crisis puts Dhaka people in distress

The acute piped gas crisis that has plagued city life since October has turned severe in most parts of Dhaka, worsening public suffering and severely impairing day-to-day living.
The city residents, who have already been suffering from air and noise pollution, severe traffic congestion, and poor waste management, are left in further distress due to the energy crisis amid the heat weave.
Many affluent people have taken alternative measures for cooking food, including using kerosene stoves and induction cookers, while others have opted to buy foods from restaurants, spending extra.
