15 missing as trawler capsizes in Bay
Fifteen people went missing after a trawler sank near Golarchar in Shah Porir Dwip, Teknaf on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Saint Martin Union Parishad Member Khorshed Alam, the trawler was carrying 6 fishermen and 10 passengers when it reached Golarchar point. The trawler had left for a fishing trip after the 65-day fishing ban was lifted.
The trawler picked up the passengers from Shah Porir Dwip jetty and was heading towards Golarchar when it sank. Locals informed the authorities and four speedboats from Saint Martin rushed to the scene. The trawler driver was rescued alive, but the remaining 15 people are missing.
