Top quota protest leaders end demonstrations
The leaders of the quota protest movement have announced the suspension of their activities following the government decision to address their demands. In a video message released on Sunday, key figures including Md Nahid Islam, Md Sajin Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Md Abu Baker, Asif Mahmud, and Nusrat Tabbassum confirmed the cessation of their protest activities.
The quota protest movement, which had sparked widespread nationwide demonstrations, had unfortunately also led to incidents of vandalism, causing damage to public property and disruptions to daily life. The protest leaders took a firm stance against the violence, clarifying that their movement had remained peaceful and that students were not involved in any of the destructive actions reported.
In their message, the leaders emphasized their commitment to non-violence and urged the government to take immediate steps to reopen educational institutions across the country. They stressed that students need to return to their classrooms and resume their education without further delay.
