Prof Ali Riaz named as head of Constitution Reform Commission
Eminent political scientist Prof. Ali Riaz has been named as the head of the Constitution Reform Commission, replacing Shahdeen Malik, a Supreme Court lawyer, according to a Cabinet Division circular issued here today.
A professor at Illinois State University in the United States, Ali Riaz, a Bangladeshi-American, is a senior non-resident fellow at the Atlantic Council and the president of the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies.
Earlier, Chief Adviser to the Interim Government Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus in his address to the nation on September 11 announced formation of six separate commissions to bring reforms to the judiciary, election commission, administration, police, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Constitution.
