Durga Puja ends with immersion of idols
The five-day Durga Puja, biggest religious festival of the Bengali Hindu community, ended today with the immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga peacefully in the water bodies in the city Patenga and Khalurghat beach amid festivity.
Before immersion of the idols, Goddess Durga was bade farewell by a large number of people of the community in the morning.
Amid tight security, idols from puja mandaps in the port city and its adjacent districts were immersed in the different beach areas in the city and district including city Patenga and Khalurghat.
Marking Bijaya Dashami, a colourful procession was brought out from the city JM Sen Hall Temple before immersion of idols, which paraded different streets in the city, then ended at Patenga sea beach.
