Huawei South Asia organized a session for all its
suppliers from Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka at Huawei Bangladesh Academy in Dhaka
Gulshan recently.
More than 100+ suppliers from Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka attended this session titled
“South Asia Suppliers Convention 2023”. In this event 23 suppliers were recognized for their
tremendous support in 2023.
The South Asia Suppliers Convention 2023 is focused on the key idea of sharing the company
vision and forecasting probable upcoming challenges. It is also a platform to share procurement
rules and quality objectives with the suppliers.
Pan Junfeng, President, Huawei South Asia and CEO of Huawei Bangladesh Ltd presented
different outcomes of 2023 and guidelines for next year to the suppliers at the event. Pan Junfeng

He said, the government should allocate a big fund for collection and flourishing the recycle industry. A huge amount of investment is needed to tap the full potential of the e-waste recycling industry as the country can recycle a maximum of three per cent of the e-waste despite there being a large market for electronic goods.
Most of the electronic companies do not have a formal business model, recycling units or recycling capacity and storage capacity for e-waste, finds a new survey, he added.
"We mainly reviewed the e-waste management rules 2021, and a survey on the business model of e-waste. The rule is good but we rather emphasised the implementation due to lack of visible action to stop illegal dumping of e-waste," he continued.
Among others, Director Jashim Uddin Khondoker, General Manager Karruzzaman, Deputy General Manager and Business Head Md. Rezaul Karim Tuhin and Head of Brand Communication Selim Ahammed Badal spoke in the function.
Experts in the event opined that profitable public and private partnership efforts should be taken for an effective waste management business model to ensure a better and livable environment.
