Seeds For The Future 2022, Bangladesh announces 30 top students for the third round of this global competition. Based on the student’s CGPA, Academic Knowledge, Creativity/Project Idea, and proficiency in English the jury board consisting of Huawei staff, project manager, and university teachers has shortlisted these candidates out of 200 participants in the 2nd round. Initially, more than 1,100 students enrolled in this program and through a diversified screening process, these 30 students have been selected at the end of 2nd round. They will now move on to the next phase while this program will emphasize their skills, examination, project, and presentation skills. Students will also be given training on different topics through a program titled ‘Meet the mentor’. Based on their performance at the end of third round nine students will be promoted to regional round which will be held Thailand. The winners of regional round will go to Singapore for “Tech4Good Accelerator Camp”. The experience with this year’s students has been wonderful. Bangladesh has a great dream of transformation in the ICT sector and youth will play an important role there. And I am very optimistic seeing the capabilities of these young talents. This program is very much aligned with the country’s ongoing digital transformation and yields a positive outcome. Sajid Altaf from IUT, Mafruza Mharin Neha, Saad Mahbub Chowdhury and Marzia Tabassum Prithy from EWU, Abdullah Saleh and Abu M. Fuad from AUST, Sumaiya Abul Kalam and Mohammad Iftekher Ebne Jalal from CUET, and Mohammad Sayeem Sadat Hossain, Lazib Sharar Shaiok, Mohsina Taz and Ankita Kundu from BRAC University. Huawei has been contributing in various ways to developing a comprehensive ICT ecosystem in Bangladesh. The global ICT infrastructure and solutions provider is helping the country reap the benefits of digital transformation. ‘Seeds For The Future’ is one such initiative by Huawei, which was launched globally in 2008 in Thailand. So far, this program has been implemented in 137 countries worldwide, and around 12,000 students and 500+ universities around the world have been benefitted through this initiative. The 10-day long quiz contest ‘Digital Literacy Quiz 2022’ ended on Wednesday. Digital Literacy Center organized this contest to curtail the digital divide in the country and to impart fruitful and safe online experience to people. 10,343 contestants participated in the competition during last ten days. Over 50% of the participants were youths. Total 60 winners were selected from the competition of ten days. Smart phones, smart watches, headphones, 2 GB data and 100 taka talk time will be awarded to the winners. The winners of this day are Rahim Ullah, Takbir Hasan Rafi, Samin Yasir Raihan, Cynthia Tanni, Md. Mominur Rahman Shakib and Hosne Ara Prabhati. A total of 60 winners have been selected in this 10-day quiz contests. State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Tuesday hoped the youths of Digital Bangladesh will work abroad including Europe and America through freelancing or becoming entrepreneurs by receiving IT training to create employment opportunities for thousands of youths. He said this while laying foundation stone of Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center on the Dinajpur College campus premises of the district. The Junior minister said, Freelancers who work at 55 marketplaces and have been selected by the ICT ministry will get the incentive. The freelancers in Bangladesh will get a boost with the incentives that they have been seeking for a long time, he said. Palak expressed his optimism that the IT training centre will be a shelter of employments for young generation. It will play an important role in turning the country into a knowledge-based, smart and economically developed Bangladesh from a labour-based economy, he said, adding that the IT centre will contribute significantly in preparing the youths in facing the fourth industrial revolution. The state minister also hoped that the Bangladeshi youths in future will develop robotics, IOT, cyber security tools for exports. The six-storey IT training centre is being built in the campus at a cost of Taka 799 crore under observation of Bangladesh Military. Once opened, it will facilitate 1,000 youths to received training. The panoramic images of Google Street View have slipped into daily life for millions—but during its early years it attracted countless court cases and howls of anguish from privacy campaigners. The US tech giant is marking the anniversary by releasing a slew of new features, including an improved version of the “time travel” tool that allows users to see previous photos taken by Google’s cameras. The firm also published lists of the most popular destinations for users—with Burj Khalifa in Dubai taking the top spot for buildings, followed by the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal. Google said Indonesia was the most popular country for Street View, ahead of the United States, Japan, Mexico and Brazil. The Indonesian capital Jakarta was the most searched city, beating Tokyo, Mexico City, Sao Paolo and Buenos Aires. The firm boasted in a blog post that it had collected 220 billion images and travelled more than 10 million miles since the first images were released of cities including San Francisco, New York and Miami. It has since provided armchair travellers with panoramic views everywhere from the peak of Everest to the depths of the Great Barrier Reef. But as Google expanded its reach, it drew widespread criticism and years of scrutiny from regulators in several European countries—large parts of Germany are still absent from the tool.
