Blockchain Olympiad-2022 begins today

Three-day “Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh-2022” is going to begin today (Monday, June 6, 2022) with the theme “Inspiring Empowerment and Innovation.”
Planning Minister MA Mannan is expected to inaugurate the Olympiad as the chief guest on June 6 at 10 am at Krishibid Institution (KIB) auditorium.
Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) informed this at a press conference held at the BCC auditorium, ICT Tower in the city’s Agargaon on Sunday.
The three-day event will include awards ceremony, and seminars on blockchain.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony to be held on June 8.

Banglalink to observe Ethics and Compliance Week 2022

Banglalink, one of the leading digital communications services providers in the country, will observe Ethics and Compliance Week 2022 starting tomorrow. The five-day program aims to uphold the principles of ethics and compliance embedded in Banglalink’s corporate culture.
According to a press release, a series of educative and awareness-raising activities will be carried out for Banglalink employees, partners, and stakeholders as part of this program.
Banglalink emphasizes maintaining ethical conduct and practices in all aspects of its operations on a continual basis without any exception or compromise. This year, the slogan is “Ethics and compliance starts with me”.
During the week, Banglalink employees will attend workshops on ethics and compliance conducted by the organization’s senior leaders. There will be sessions to exchange views and renew commitments for ethical conduct.
Various activities have been planned throughout the week to improve engagement and induce thought and self-realization at all levels, as Banglalink believes that compliance is everyone’s responsibility. The activities will include puzzles, quizzes, logo, and slogan creation competitions. The business partners will also be invited to share their compliance practices. It will be followed by a panel discussion to have an open and candid exchange of views on ethics and compliance in business.

e-CAB Election: Ogrogami Panel unveils its manifesto

Ogrogami Panel has announced its manifesto ahead of the upcoming e-CAB elections. The announcement was made at a city hotel on Thursday night.
Two most successful entrepreneurs in the e-commerce and logistics sector of the country respectively - Ambareen Reza, Co-founder and Managing Director of foodpanda Bangladesh and Shahriar Hasan, Co-founder and Chief Executive of Paperfly Limited, unveiled the manifesto of Ogrogami Panel in presence of journalists. In addition to expanding the scope of professional development and institutional support for members, the manifesto emphasizes cross-border policy and popularization of digital payments for the expansion of the e-commerce sector.
Stakeholders from tech sector, including members of Ogrogami Panel, were present during the announcement of manifesto. Leading panel members are: Shomi Kaiser (Dhansiri Digital), Mohammad Abdul Wahed Tamal (Computer Jagat), Mohammad Sahab Uddin Shipon (Diabetes Store), Nasima Akter (Revery), Asif Ahnaf (Breakbyt), Mohammad Saidur Rahman (Digital Hub), MD Ruhul Kuddus Chhotan (Focus Frame), Shahriar Hasan (Paperfly) and Ambareen Reza (foodpanda).
The e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) election will be held on June 18. There are 795 voters in this election.
Various initiatives will be taken to provide priority services to the members and improve their skills. In addition, Ambareen Reza announced the establishment of a startup academy and incubation center to develop the startup ecosystem; in the process, take new entrepreneurs forward in the e-commerce sector. It will be the job of the startup academy to increase the global connectivity of local startups, connect them with investors and make them more efficient through various types of training. In short, all kinds of support and mentorship will be provided for a startup to move forward globally.
Shahriar Hasan, Co-founder of Paperfly, raised the issue of entrepreneur-friendly policies and promised to take necessary steps to formulate entrepreneur-friendly policies. In addition, discussions and workshops will be organized for entrepreneurs to keep them aware of digital security. Above all, the entrepreneur promises that e-CAB will play a leading role in taking the e-commerce companies of Bangladesh to the world market within the next four years.

Seeds for the future moves onto next phase with 30 top students

Seeds For The Future 2022, Bangladesh announces 30 top students for the third round of this global competition. Based on the student’s CGPA, Academic Knowledge, Creativity/Project Idea, and proficiency in English the jury board consisting of Huawei staff, project manager, and university teachers has shortlisted these candidates out of 200 participants in the 2nd round.
Initially, more than 1,100 students enrolled in this program and through a diversified screening process, these 30 students have been selected at the end of 2nd round. They will now move on to the next phase while this program will emphasize their skills, examination, project, and presentation skills. Students will also be given training on different topics through a program titled ‘Meet the mentor’. Based on their performance at the end of third round nine students will be promoted to regional round which will be held Thailand. The winners of regional round will go to Singapore for “Tech4Good Accelerator Camp”.
Yuying Karl, Head of Public Affairs and Communications department, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, shares, “Huawei began the ‘Seeds For The Future’ (SFTF) program in Bangladesh nine years ago and every time, we have received tremendous love and response. The experience with this year’s students has been wonderful. Bangladesh has a great dream of transformation in the ICT sector and youth will play an important role there. The 30 top students are — Taki Yashir, Elin Ranjan Das and Golam Mahmud Samdani from BUET, Shahad Saroar, Shadmin Sultana, M. Ashikuzzaman Kowshik, and Nafisa Amin Hridi from DU, Sunanda Das and MD. Sazedur Rahman from KUET, Manaura Naznine, Farhana Amin, Madiha Binte Zakir, Mehreen Tabassum and Md. Masrur Saqib from RUET, Wasifa Rahman Rashmi, Anika Rahnuma, Md. Sumit Hasan, Fairuz Shaiara, and Md. Sajid Altaf from IUT, Mafruza Mharin Neha, Saad Mahbub Chowdhury and Marzia Tabassum Prithy from EWU, Abdullah Saleh and Abu M. Fuad from AUST, Sumaiya Abul Kalam and Mohammad Iftekher Ebne Jalal from CUET, and Mohammad Sayeem Sadat Hossain, Lazib Sharar Shaiok, Mohsina Taz and Ankita Kundu from BRAC University.

So far, this program has been implemented in 137 countries worldwide, and around 12,000 students and 500+ universities around the world have been benefitted through this initiative. Dedicated to top STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and non-STEM students, SFTF offers huge learning opportunities to the participants.
Professors from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET), Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), BRAC University, East-West University (EWU) and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) joined the jury board of 2nd round.
