Sony to go production next year: Officials

Japanese electronics giant Sony is going to manufacture smart television sets in Bangladesh within one year. Sony’s local franchisee Smart Technologies will help to set up five factories at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park in Sylhet to produce different electronic products including Sony smart TV sets. Speakers in an official launching ceremony of “Sony Bravia K Series” assured this information. Sony-SMART organised the event held at a city hotel on Wednesday. State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh ITO Naoki, Additional Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Shafiqul Islam, BMP (Bar), Sony South-East Asia, RMDC President Atsushi Endo, Chairman of SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd Mohd. Mazharul Islam, and SMART Technologies (BD) Ltd Managing Director Mohammad Zahirul Islam were present as special guests. Addressing at the event Zaheed Farooque said that there is no doubt about that Sony is well known for its product quality, for capturing the Bangladeshi market Sony should bring down its product prices. Managing Director of Smart Technologies Md. Zahirul Islam said, “We have already been allocated space at the Hi-Tech Park. Once our factory is ready, we hope within a year we will be able to manufacture world-class electronics products in Bangladesh with Sony. Our main goal is to export our products to meet the needs of the country’s market.” “We are marketing the electronics products and other related services of Sony, a Japanese multinational technology product manufacturing company, in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Sony-SMART has made a place in the hearts of consumers , “said Md Zahirul Islam, managing director of SMART Technologies Bangladesh limited. ITO Naoki said, “Sony’s new products are coming to the market, which are made keeping in mind the maximum convenience of the customers. Genuine products from Japan never disappoint customers. Rather, it creates a place of trust and confidence. Huawei Awards Employees for Long Service

OSSL gets licence to run payment system

Technology solution providing company Optimum Solution and Services Ltd. (OSSL) received the Payment System Operator (PSO) license from Bangladesh Bank recently.
With this, OSSL will be able to operate as a PSO under the brand name Easy Payment System (EPS).
A circular regarding the license was issued by the Payment Systems Department (PSD) of Bangladesh Bank. The issued circular has been sent to the Managing Directors/Chief Executives of all Scheduled Banks, Mobile Financial Services Providers, Payment System Operators and Payment Service Providers in the country.
The circular states that, “According to the ‘Bangladesh Payment and Settlement Systems Regulation–2014’ issued under Section 7(A) (E) of Bangladesh Bank Order 1972, OSSL has been given the license as a PSO to run its operations within under the brand name of Easy Payment System (EPS)”.
PSD of Bangladesh Bank has so far granted licenses to a total of seven institutions as PSO. EPS is one of them. With this authorization, EPS is able to provide financial transaction services to individuals and businesses.
EPS promises to unveil new horizons to the digital financial ecosystem. The theme of EPS is ‘Easy Solution for All Transactions’.
