FORT LAUDERDALE, United States: Inter Miami MLS playoff hopes suffered a blow on Saturday as, without injured Lionel Messi, they drew 1-1 at home to New York City FC, while FC Cincinnati secured top seed in the Eastern Conference with a win at Toronto.
Messi, who had missed Wednesday US Open Cup final defeat to Houston and last week draw in the league at Orlando, was again missing with the injury which has troubled him since mid-September.

BARCELONA: Police in Spain on Thursday searched
the headquarters of the country football referee committee as part of a
probe into payments made by Liga giants Barcelona to a firm owned by a former
official of the body.
Prosecutors suspect the club paid millions of euros to the company of Jose
Maria Enriquez Negreira, the former vice-president of Spanish football
refereeing committee, between 2001 and 2018, to try to influence referee
decisions.
HANGZHOU, China: New York based Bangladeshi boxer Zinnat Ferdous eliminated from the 19th Asian Games boxing event losing to her Mongolian rival Esugen Oyuntsetseg by 5-0 point in the 50kg weight category pre quarterfinal held at Hangzhou Gymnasium on Wednesday.
The judges announced the results after the three rounds and in that result Mongolian boxer Esugen Oyuntsetseg won the match easily. All five judges gave their favor to the Mongolian boxer in every round. As a result Zeenat lost the pre quarterfinal match by 5-0 points.
