India celebrates World Cup booster shot after Sri Lanka battered

NEW DELHI: India celebrated the 10-wicket thrashing of Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final as "a booster shot" Monday for the one-day World Cup starting on home soil in a fortnight.
Pace bowler Mohammed Siraj got four wickets in one over to help skittle Sri Lanka out for 50 on Sunday, a total the Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill surpassed in 6.1 overs.
It was India eighth Asia Cup crown but first major tournament title since winning the same competition in 2018.

BPL players draft on Sept 24

The players draft of the 10th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is scheduled to be held on September 24 at a local hotel in the city.
A total of seven teams will participate in the most glamorous and competitive T20 tournament of the country. Six of the teams from the last edition remained same but the owner of Dhaka franchise was changed.

We could have done well if there was no injury issue: Miraz

All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz believes Bangladesh could have done well in the Asia Cup if they could play the whole tournament without any injury issue.
"The result could have been different had we fielded a full strength team from the beginning. We hope that all of the players will recover from the injury and we will go to the world Cup with good mindset," Miraz said after Bangladesh team arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today from Colombo.

Zia finishes 7th position Asian Jr. Chess

FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia finished seventh position in the open category of the Tata Steel Asian Junior (U-20) Chess Championships that concluded today (Friday) in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.
FM Tahasin Tajwar Zia finished 7th position with six points from nine games. FM Manon Reja Neer is finished twenty sixth place with 4.5 points and Aiyan Rahman became fifty eight with one point.
