Tigers all out for 164 despite 89 of Shanto

-Najmul Hossain Shanto struck a brilliant 89 but other batters failed to give him the adequate support as Bangladesh were bowled out for a meager 164 in 42.4 overs against Sri Lanka in their first match of the Asia Cup at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy today.
The next best for Bangladesh was Towhid Hridoy 20 while two other batters - opener Naim Sheikh (16) and Mushfiqur Rahim (13) could reach double digit figure.

School Handball meet begins

The Polar Ice Cream 28th National School Handball (Boys & Girls) Tournament began from today (Tuesday) at two separate venues in the capital. In the day boys section matches held at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium, Motijheel School and College, Wills Little Flower School and College, Shaheed Police Smrity College, Scholastica Uttara, Sunnydale and Narinda Govt. High School won their matches after beating their respective rivals. While in the girls section matches held at Sheikh Russell Roller Skating Complex, Ideal School of Motijheel, Noubahini College, Sunnydale, Shaheed Bir Uttam Anwar Girls, College, Scholastica Uttara and Viqarunnisa Noon School and College won their matches after beating their respective rivals.

Asia Cup kicks off as teams gear up for World Cup

The 16th edition of the Asia Cup, a regional cricket tournament, starts on Wednesday with the participating teams focusing on to have a fine tune ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Pakistan will take on Nepal in the opening game at Multan to kick-start the tournament.
This is the first time that the tournament is being co-hosted by multiple countries, with four matches taking place in Pakistan and the remaining nine in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan basically were the host of the tournament but the political turmoil between them and India forced the event to be shared by two countries.

Kiplangat wins men world marathon title

BUDAPEST: Ugandan Victor Kiplangat won the men marathon at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest on Sunday after producing a devastating final third to leave his rivals trailing in his wake.
The Commonwealth champion clocked a winning time of 2hr 08min 53sec on the streets of the Hungarian capital after breaking free in the last 15 kilometres.
Israel Ethiopian-born Teru Meferi followed up on his European silver last year with second place in 2:09.12, while Ethiopian Leul Gebresilase took bronze (2:09.19).
