DBH Finance PLC and its employees came forward to help flood affected people

In response to the devastating flood that affected many places of Bangladesh, employees of DBH Finance PLC came forward to stand beside them and donated their one day salary. The fund was channeled through BRAC Flood Relief Fund and was used to provide reliefs to the distressed people. Company Secretary of DBH Finance, Mr. Jashim Uddin was personally present and participated in the distribution of essential items in the flood affected areas of Feni district.
In addition to that, DBH Finance, the specialist housing finance institution, itself contributed an amount to honorable Chief Advisor Relief and welfare fund. That fund was donated from company CSR budget to stand beside the flood victims. Driven by the sense of humanitarian duty, DBH is pledged bound to stand beside the victims.

Islamic banks should be returned to founders: Speakers

Islamic banks must be operated by the people who founded those banks based on Shariah to serve financial inclusion for the ordinary people of the country, according to a prominent economist.
Prof Abu Ahmed said this while speaking as the chief guest at a “customer rally” organised to protect Sharia-based Islamic banking, held in a hotel at Motijheel, Dhaka on Saturday.
He said, “Islamic banks will be run well when they would be operated fully based on Shariah. On this aim these banks were established, but some people snatched it at gunpoint for looting money from these banks.”
Economist Abu Ahmed said those who established Islami banks did not expect profit. Because of this, the assets of the bank were increased. And this increase in wealth has become the death knell for the bank due to some greedy people in the society.

FBCCI delegation meets Army Chief

A delegation of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), led by its president Mahbubul Alam, today made a courtesy call on Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman at the Army Headquarters here.
The business leaders sought support of the Bangladesh Army for ensuring business-friendly environment, keeping operative the production at mills and factories and keeping intact the supply chain, beefing up security at factories and business establishments, and curbing extortion, said a press release.
In this connection, the FBCCI president thanked the Army Chief for conducting various operations and patrolling in the industrial belt and areas by Bangladesh Army centering the security issue of the industries.

Steel, iron leaders urge Chief Adviser Dr Yunus to remove tariff complications

Steel and iron industry leaders today (17 August) called for the removal of tariff complications in import of raw materials and capital equipment.
At a meeting of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) Standing Committee on Iron, Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Re-rolling Industries, they urged the interim government headed by Dr Muhammad Yunus to take necessary steps in this regard.
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam, who participated virtually as the chief guest, stressed the importance of the iron and steel industry in developing the economy of the country.
