Country third tea auction center launched in Panchagarh

The country third tea auction center has been opened in Panchagarh in a bid to ensure fair price of raw tea leaves.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi formally inaugurated the centre today in Panchagarh.
Addressing a function marking the inauguration, organized at Panchagarh Government Auditorium, the Commerce Minister said that the country third tea auction center has been launched in Panchagarh to ensure fair price of raw tea leaves for the tea farmers, said a press release.
"This will reduce the cost of the tea producers," he added.

Sri Lanka pays back another $100m to Bangladesh

Sri Lanka has repaid another US$100 million of the $200 million loan it took from Bangladesh in a currency swap agreement two years ago.
"Sri Lanka has paid back $100 million to us on Thursday (31 August). Now they are expected to return the remaining $50 million in due course," said Bangladesh Bank (BB) Spokesperson and Executive Director Majbaul Haque.
With the latest installment, the Island nation paid back a total of $150 million. Sri Lanka repaid $50 million as the first installment on August 17.

US investments to Bangladesh will increase more, hopes Kamal

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today expressed his hope that the investments from the USA would increase more in the coming days as the US investors are keen to invest further in Bangladesh various sectors like in agriculture, automobiles, in energy and services sectors.
"We have discussed about the possible US investments in Bangladesh...I hope that the investments from the USA will increase further in the coming days," he said.
The finance minister was briefing reporters after a delegation of the US-Bangladesh Business Council met him at the Finance Ministry conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat today.
