Corrugated sheets distributed among fire-affected people in Bhola

BHOLA: Corrugated sheets and cash were distributed among 23 fire-affected shop owners in Sadar upazila here today.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Toihidul Islam distributed the corrugated sheets and money at a function held at Upazila Parishad auditorium this afternoon.

Traditional boat race held in Bogura

BOGURA: The 5th traditional boat race, popularly known as Nouka Baich, was held on the Ichamati River near Tarani Haat in Gabtali upazila of the district with much enthusiasm and festivity today.
Thousands of people from 12 upazilas of the district gathered on both the banks of the river to enjoy the traditional boat race which has been a part of Bengali culture for centuries. People from all walks of life enjoyed the intense race which ended through festivity and enthusiasm.
Tarani Haat organised the boat festival.

KUET observes 20th founding anniversary

KHULNA: Students, teachers and staff of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) today celebrated its 20th founding anniversary with fanfare and festivity.
On the occasion, the university authorities have celebrated the day amid various daylong programmes.
The day programme began with the hoisting of the national flag and the university flag. Acting Chairman of the University Grant Commission (UGC) Professor Dr Mohammad Alamgir inaugurated the programmes as the chief guest by releasing balloons and pigeons in front of the administrative building of KUET.

Ban on travelling Sundarbans lifted

KHULNA: The largest mangrove forest Sundarbans will be made open for all tomorrow after three-month ban lifted today.
From now on, travellers can visit Sundarbans for their adventure; fishermen depended on the mangrove forest can catch fishes again in the magnificent canals on Sundarban, close to the Bay of Bengal.
Sources said fishermen, tour operators and helmsmen are ready to go to Sundarbans where Royal Bengal tiger is seen.
