Four drowned in flood water in Rangamati

RANGAMATI: Four persons, including three children, drowned after heavy rains and floods in Baghaichhari upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Juni Chakma,7, son of Tripurna Chakma, a resident of Hirachar area of Khedarmara union of the upazila, Md Jewel,7, son of Mohsin Miah, resident of Haji Para of Ward No. 4 of Baghaichhari Municipality, Rahul Barua, 10, son of Arun Barua, resident of Ward No. 4 Banglatli Union and Kaola Tripura,38, son of Sarabindu Tripura, resident of Machalong Dipupara area of Sajek Union.
Police recovered their bodies from different areas of the upazila, officer-in-charge (OC) of Baghaichhari Police Station Ishtiaq Ahmed said.

Kachagolla gains GI status

Kachagolla of Natore has been recognized as the 17th Geographical Indication (GI) product of the country.
Deputy Director of the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT) Mirza Golam Sarwar today confirmed that Bangladesh is now one and only owner of the product.
On March 30, the Natore district administration filed an application to prevent the distortion of the nearly 250-year-old Kachagolla and to recognize its geographical innovation site.

Police remain vigil against anarchy, terrorism

RAJSHAHI: District police administration today expressed its determination to take drastic action against anarchy and all other terrorist activities to establish a crime-free atmosphere everywhere in society.
"We will work together against all sorts of unruly, including violence and repression against child, women and addiction to drugs along with its trafficking and trading," said Saifur Rahman, newly joined Superintendent of Police (SP), while exchanging views with the journalists marking his joining at his office conference hall today.
He sought all-out cooperation from journalists to combat all sorts of crimes, especially abuse of drugs and its trafficking.
