    All urged to be alert, conscious about dengue, its prevention: Civil Surgeon
    GAIBANDHA: Civil Surgeon (CS) of Gaibandha Dr Abdullahil Mafi today urged all to be alerted and conscious about dengue disease and its preventive measures in the changed situation.
    “If an infected aides mosquito particularly the female one bites a person, he or she might be attacked with dengue disease. Fever, Nausea, vomiting, Rash Aches and pains or any warning sign are the symptoms of dengue. If the symptoms are found in a person, he or she should consult with a registered physician without any delay,” he said.
    The CS made these observations while addressing a function Doings in Preventing Dengue at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) here as the main resource person while deputy director-Local Government Shariful Islam presided over it.

    Hilsa prices decreasing as supply increasing in Khulna
    KHULNA: The price of Hilsa fish has been decreasing since its supply has increased in Khulna kitchen markets for last few days.
    A number of buyers and sellers said that the price of Hilsa has gone up during last few days but now it is being sold at a nominally lower price.
    While visiting a few kitchen markets in the city, this reporter found that the supply of Hilsa fish has increased during last few days. As a result, city people are seen interested in buying Hilsa.
    In Sandhya Bazar, kitchen markets, Hilsa weighing over 400 grams, is selling Taka 550 to 600 per KG. Taka 1100 per KG of Hilsa weighing over 800 grams.

    New School-feeding programme in 150 upazilas soon
    COXS BAZAR: Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Farid Ahmed today said the School feeding programme will be launched in 150 upazilas of the country as soon as possible in a new format.
    "Through this, a new horizon will be uncovered in the field of primary education and thus it will lead to building a developed and prosperous Bangladesh," he added.
    The secretary said this while addressing the National Dissemination Workshop on the analysis of the Findings and Factors of the National Student Assessment-2022 organized by the Directorate of Primary Education at a city hotel as the chief guest, a press release said.
    Highlighting the benefits of the new School feeding programme, Farid Ahmed said this time, children will be served nutritious biscuits along with different kinds of foods which attract them.

    Grameenphone Stands Beside 10,000 Flood-Affected Families
    Chattogram division has been hit by continuous heavy rainfall over the past week, causing extreme flooding in numerous locations, disrupting traffic, and leaving thousands of people without access to water, electricity, and other basic amenities. Chattogram City Corporation area, Chattogram District, Coxs Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachari and Feni are undergoing difficult conditions induced by persistent showers and heavy waterlogging. As a socially responsible company, Grameenphone has come forward to stand beside the flood-affected people and communities with yet another disaster response initiative to help deal with the havoc wreaked by the heavy rainfall.
    Under the response initiative, Grameenphone in partnership with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) will be providing 10,000 families with food relief packs in the flood-affected regions of Chattogram Division. Moreover, Grameenphone will also support to deploy five water treatment plants to provide safe drinking water.
    Hossain Sadat, Acting Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Grameenphone said, “People living in the inundated regions of Chattogram division are struggling to access the basic needs. The landslide and flood, caused by days of heavy rainfall, has marooned thousands of people without food and water – led the lives of people to come to a standstill. While our dedicated network team has been working tirelessly to ensure people have access to the connectivity in the flood-affected regions, as a responsible member of the community, we decided to come forward and stand beside the people when they need us during this difficult time. We are committed to continuing our support whenever it is required.”
    Kazi Shofiqul Azam, Secretary General, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) said, “The Chattogram Region is facing an unprecedented challenge now due to the widespread flooding. The intense flooding has affected masses of people, and their houses were inundated around Chattogram division.
