    7 illegally entered from India held
    COX’S BAZAR, May 29: Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) on Sunday detained seven members of two families who took shelter in Lambashia refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya who illegally entered from India.
    The detainees were identified as Shajan,22, his wife Hamida Begum, 20, their son Ibrahim,3, Mohammad Tahir,33, his daughters Saima,5, and Ramina, 2, and Anwar Kalim,25.
    They were held from block F-14 of Lambashia Rohingya Camp-1 East on Saturday evening, said Naimul Haque, commander of APBn-14.
    He said in primary questioning the detainees have accepted entering from India.
    All the seven detainees have been transferred to the transit camp with the help of the Camp-In-Charge(CIC), said APBn commander Mainul Haque.

    2 die as tractor plunges into roadside ditch
    MANIKGANJ, May 29: Two people died and another three were injured on Sunday as a tractor lost control and fell into a roadside ditch at Hatipara Bazar area in Manikganj Sadar upazila.
    The deceased were identified as Aynal,35, and Miraz,32, from Basail upazila in Tangail, said Abdur Rauf, Officer-in-charge of Manikganj sadar police station.
    The accident occurred around 5:30 pm on Bartek-Beribadh regional road near Gonger Chawk as the tractor carrying electric poles fell into the ditch leaving two of the driver’s assistants dead on the spot.
    The injured are currently admitted at Manikganj district hospital, said OC Abdur Rauf.

    Remotest region to connect with broadband internet by 2025:Palak
    State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Sunday said the government will connect the whole country including the remote areas with broadband internet service by 2025.
    The state minister said this while unveiling the stone of Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubator Center at Ghior area of Manikganj district on Sunday.
    The government is prioritizing digital inclusion for reviving the rural economy, he said.
    “300 schools of future will be established across the country to make the new generation familiar with frontier technologies like AR, VR , robotics, IOT and block chain technology aiming at enhancing their skills,” said the state minister.
    Palak said, during the Covid-19 pandemic, telemedicine services in the country have increased by over 300 percent.
    While 13,000 more community health clinics were established for giving health services from expert doctors through video conferencing, test report sharing online, he said.
    Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Managing Director Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Diesel Plant Limited Managing Director Brigadier General Syed Md Rafiqul Islam, Manikganj district AL President Advocate Golam Mahiuddin, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Latif, Police Super Md Golam Azam Khan and Ghior Thana AL President Abdul Awal Mintu were present, among others.
    Manikganj-1 lawmaker Naimur Rahman Durjoy chaired it.

    Parash urges not to use organisational titles for personal gain
    CHATTOGRAM, May 29: Juba League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash on Sunday urged the party leaders and workers that not to use organisational titles for attaining personal gain.
    “Organisational positions are not meant to weigh one’s personal pocket or not for personal gain. It’s not a product that you bought from any market... It should be used only for conducting party activities,” he opined.
    Parash said this while speaking as the chief gust at a conference of North District Juba League held on the premises of Hathazari Parvati School ground here on Sunday.
    Speaking on the occasion, the Juba League leader promised in publicly that there is no financial support is required to get any position in the party.
    “So, our expectation is that no one should be used the organisational terms while extorting the tender bidding,” he said, adding that the reign of illegal infiltrators in the organisation should be stopped. “We hope that when you select or evaluate dedicated and experienced leaders and workers, you will consider those who have struggled in the difficult times of the party, endured imprisonment, abandonment and torture,” he added.
    Terming corruption is difficult to eliminate from the society, the Jubo League Chairman said it must be controlled through social movement side by side law and also asked the party leaders and workers that not to involve with any corruption.
    Central Jubo League General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil addressed the function as keynote speaker while Awami League (AL) Presidium member Engineer Md Mosharraf Hossain is present as guest of honour.
    Besides, Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and its organizing Secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud joined the programme virtually.
    AL North District President MA Salam, its General Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Ataur Rahman, Lawmakers Mahfuzur Rahman, Didarul Alam and Khadijatul Anwar, Juba League Chattogram Division Acting Joint-General Secretary Barrister Sheikh Fazle Naeem, its Organising Secretary Md. Saifur Rahman Sohag, Publicity and Publication Secretary Joydev Nandi, Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aditya Nandi and Executive Committee Member Niaz Morshed Elite, among others, attended the function.
