    4 killed, 13 injured in truck-pickup collision in Habiganj
    Four people were killed and 13 others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup in Madhabpur on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway here in the early hours of today. The deceased were identified as Mostakima Akhter, 35, wife of Ismail Mia of Chamakpur village in Baniachong upazila of the district, her brother Hafizur Rahman, 26, Ayesha Akhter, 30, wife of Jamal Mia of Raiyapur village in Nabiganj, and Rahim Mia, 22, a helper of the pickup and son of Malek Mia of Pongshipur village in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj district. Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge (OC) of Madhabpur Police Station, said the four people died on the spot when a Dhaka-bound truck (Chatt Metro T-11-6331) collided head-on with a pickup (Dhaka Metro Na-19-8791) coming from the opposite direction at Bakharnagar in the upazila around 2:00am today. "Among the victims, two were men and two women," he said, adding that the injured were rescued and sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, while the condition of five of them is critical. There were 17 passengers in the pickup, along with household goods, Mamun continued. "The 13 seriously injured people were admitted to the Habiganj District Sadar Hospital while two children in critical condition were sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment. The bodies have been recovered and kept at Habiganj Sadar Hospital," the OC said. The ill-fated vehicles have been seized by the Highway Police, he added.

    2 killed as passenger bus hits auto-van in Chuadanga
    Two people, including the driver of a motorized van, were killed early this morning when a passenger bus hit their vehicle in the Noy Mile area on the Chuadanga-Jhenaidah highway here. The deceased were identified as Sarwar Khondaker, 50, a rice trader from Kutubpur village in Chuadanga sadar upazila and son of Ismail Khondaker Sarwar, and van driver Razzak, 65, son of Moksed, from the same village. According to eyewitnesses, Sarwar was heading to Sarojganj market to buy rice, riding a motorized "pakhi van" (a local engine-run vehicle) driven by Razzak. Their van was rammed from behind by a Dhaka-bound passenger bus in the area at around 5:30am, leaving them dead on the spot, the sources added. Locals immediately informed the police and fire service. Police later recovered the bodies and sent those to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue. Sarwars nephew, Biplob Hossain, said, "My uncle had finished his Fajr prayers and was heading to the market for business. The speeding bus hit them and fled the scene. We rushed to the spot after hearing the news and took the bodies to the hospital." The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident.

    Helper killed as truck overturns during tyre change
    A truck helper was killed when a parked truck overturned during a tyre change in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah district last night. The deceased was identified as Ashraful Islam, 45, a resident of Shikarpur village in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila. Quoting witnesses, police said the tragic incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Thursday night at the Kaliganj bus stand in Jhenaidah town. The truck driver, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital. The fertilizer-laden truck was heading towards Jhenaidah. When it reached in front of a mosque near the Kaliganj Main Bus Stand on the Jhenaidah-Jashore highway, a rear tyre got punctured. The driver and helper began replacing it. During the repair, the jack slipped, causing the truck to overturn, leaving both the driver and the helper trapped underneath. Locals rushed to the scene and recovered helper Ashraful Islams body. The injured driver was rescued and taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital. His name could not be known immediately. Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said the body has been sent to the morgue at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, and the driver is currently undergoing treatment.

    Huawei organizes campus recruitment at CUET
    Huawei has organized a campus recruitment program at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET). The initiative aimed to offer promising career opportunities to fresh graduates.
    These details were shared by Huawei Bangladesh in a press release issued on Tuesday.
    The recruitment event was attended by representatives from both CUET and Huawei. From Huawei, Md. Fara Newas, Senior HR Manager, Omar Heider Masfique Ahmad, HR Manager, and Md Khalid Hossain, Assistant HR Manager, were present. While from CUET, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin, Dean of Faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Dr. Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering joined the event.
    Around 300 students from multiple departments of CUET participated in the recruitment process, which consists of an MCQ-based examination and interview session. The selected candidates will receive offers to begin their professional journey with Huawei. Md. Fara Newas conducted a session prior to the screening, focusing on both international and national telecom industry trends, as well as the roles and contributions of Huawei in the sector.

    A participant of the program shared their experience saying, “If I get a chance to work with the ICT and telco industry leader, Huawei, it will be a significant start for my career. I heard from my seniors that Huawei is a performance driven company. I am inspired and ready to build a fully connected intelligent Bangladesh.”
