    Huawei Extends Humanitarian Support for Flood-affected People
    Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited has distributed relief materials among the flood-affected people of Netrakona on Monday to give them a respite from the damages caused by flood.
    A relief distribution event was held at Upazila Parishad Auditorium, Khaliajuri on 27 June 2022 with the presence of Rabbani Jabbar, Upazila Parishad Chairman; A.H.M. Ariful Islam, UNO of Khaliajhuri, Major Zisanul Haider. The Chief Guest, Posts and Telecommunications Division’s Minister, Mustafa Jabbar; Anjana Khan Mojlis, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona and Board Member of Huawei Bangladesh, Jason Li joined the event virtually.
    The recent flood impacted Netrakona after Sylhet and Sunamganj. Residents in 39 unions in six Upazilas of Netrakona district were affected by floods amid a rise in water levels on major rivers in the district. Many houses, roads, and educational institutions in Netrakona Sadar Upazila, Barhatta, Purbadhala, Khaliajuri, Kalmakanda and Durgapur were affected by floods. Some areas on the bank of rivers have faced river erosion.
    Huawei, as a responsible business entity, has extended its support in the aid of the people in need. They distributed relief items among the flood-affected people of Netrakona district, as a part of their initiative, named “In Bangladesh, For Bangladesh – Here For You”. Approximately 2,000 flood-affected families have received essential items including rice, red lentils, potatoes, oral saline, sugar, flour and others.
    Mustafa Jabbar, Minister of the Posts & Telecommunications Division, said, “Over the years, Huawei has been making an incredible contribution to the development of the country’s ICT sector. In addition to that, with initiatives like this, they have also proven their concern towards the country by helping the disaster-struck people.”
    Jason Li, Board Member of Huawei Bangladesh, said, “A significant portion of the people in Bangladesh has been suffering with flood for the last few days. As a localized global company operating in Bangladesh, we feel responsible to stand for them. Hence, we have organized this relief program, as a part of our initiative ‘In Bangladesh, For Bangladesh - Here for you’. Our effort may not wipe away their sufferings but can be considerable aid in their struggle.”
    A.H.M. Ariful Islam, UNO of Khaliajhuri, said at this occasion, ““First of all, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Huawei for standing beside the flood-affected people of Netrokona. The flood has threatened many lives, where contributions made by such organizations and the Government reinstates hope. These relief materials will go a long way in helping them cut through the tough times and walk ahead towards normalcy.”
    “For the last few years, we have seen Huawei helping us during the disasters in Khaliajuri. I want to thank Huawei for this. We hope that such timely initiatives will continue in the future.”, said Upazila Parishad Chairman Rabbani Jabbar.
    Huawei has been working in Bangladesh for Bangladesh for more that 23 years. And this company arranges different kind of programs for the people who are affected by disasters, who are special, who have challenges in getting education conveniently and also facilitates the education opportunity of the students. Relief distribution at Khaliajuri is among those kinds of CSR activities ran by it.

    PRAN-RFL stands beside flood-hit people under ‘Pashe Asi Bangladesh’ program
    PRAN-RFL group has stood beside flood affected people in Sylhet, Sunamganj and Habiganj under its project ‘Pashe Asi Bangladesh’. The leading conglomerate has distributed dry food, handed over RFL’s support branded boats to the local administration and taken initiative to distribute safe drinking water among the people of remote places in flood-hit areas.
    Kamruzzaman Kamal, Director (Marketing) at PRAN-RFL Group said, “We have sent dry food immediately considering the severe crisis of food and drinking water in flood affected areas. Firstly, we have faced some problems regarding the transporting the relief to the affected areas but with the assistance of the local administration and Bangladesh Army, we are able to send the relief. We have sent puffed rice, flattened rice and various kinds of biscuits.”
    He also added, “There is an acute crisis of drinking water at remote areas of the flood affected districts. RFL’s water tank brand ‘Sera’ is distributing thousands of 20 liter water tanks considering the safe water in flood-hit areas. The brand is also giving water purification tablets so that they can purify the water in the tank. We have given our support branded boat to the district administration of Sylhet for helping the flood affected people through transport. We are also working on how to help the flood-hit people in many other ways.”
    PRAN-RFL group has launched the project ‘Pashe Asi Bangladesh’ in 2020 to help the helpless people in various national crisis as a corporate social responsibility.

    Career prospects seminar held at RPSU
    NARAYNGANJ: The Pharma Association of Pharmacy Department of Ranada Prasad Shaha University (RPSU) hosted a seminar titled "Career Prospects in Pharmaceutical Industries & Pharmaceutical Quality System" on the campus in the district on Saturday.
    General Manager (Quality Assurance) of ACI Pharmaceutical LTD. MD. Altaf Hossain was present as a keynote speaker while Vice Chancellor of RPSU Prof. Dr. Manindra Kumar Roy was present as a chief guest.
    Head of Pharmacy Department Dr. MD. Tariqul Islam presided over the function.
    MD. Altaf Hossain provided students with a broad understanding of the current scenario of the pharmaceutical industry, employment opportunities, and future possibilities. The Students and faculty members from Pharmacy Department were present in this informative seminar.

    No paper applications at DC record room from July 3
    The Land Ministry has issued a letter directing the Deputy Commissioner’s Office (Collectorate) to stop accepting any kind of manual application (paper application) for services related to Khatian (Record of Rights) or Mouza Maps from July 3 next.
    Now citizens are able to apply for any services related to the Record of Rights or Mouza Map using the Digital Land Record System by Land Service Platform (www.land.gov.bd), a press release of land ministry said here on Thursday.
    Service recipients are able to receive their delivery directly from the office counter or by postal way.
    They are also able to pay all applicable fees, including service charges or postage, online.
    Therefore, there is no need to make any kind of cash transaction in receiving or providing record room services of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the release added.
    They are also able to receive the same service by calling 16122.
    However, applications related to Khatian or Mouza Map are still being accepted manually (paper application) from the record room of some Deputy Commissioner’s offices other than Digital Land Records (www.land.gov.bd) systems.
    In this case, the Ministry of Land has issued a letter requesting to stop accepting any kind of manual application for Khatian or Mouza map service from the record room in the interest of providing digital land services to the citizens.
