    Teesta Solar plant improves power situation further in Gaibandha
    GAIBANDHA: The electricity situation has improved further in the district as country largest solar power plant the Teesta Solar Limited has gone to production recently. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the plant located at Latshalar Char under Sundarganj upazila of the district as she addressed a mammoth public rally on Rangpur Zila School ground on Wednesday. The prime minister also witnessed the plant from the helicopter on her way back to Dhaka. The construction work of the plant started in 2017. Beximco Group and its subsidiary Beximco Power Limited constructed it. Around five lakh solar panels were installed in the plant

    8.5-meter draft ship docks at Mongla Port for 1st time
    KHULNA, For the first time in the history of Mongla Port, an 8.5-meter draft foreign ship docked the port jetty this noon after completion of dredging at Mongla-Ghashiakhali Channel as well as Pashur Channel.
    The Singapore flag carrier "MV MAERSK NUSANTARA" anchored at the jetty no-9 of the sea port loaded with over 489 TUES commodities around 12.30pm today, Captain Md Asaduzzaman, member (Herbour and Marine) of Mongla Port Authority (MPA) confirmed to BSS.
    "The imported 489 TUES commodities-- includes foreign tiles, fabrics, parts of three wheelers and different parts of electronic goods including LED television-- have already been started unload from this afternoon," he said, adding that the foreign ship will leave the jetty after loading over 367 TUES commodities-- readymade garments, Jute and Jute goods and frozen foods including shrimp.

    HFHB handed over 100 houses for Rohingya families
    Habitat For Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) announces the successful completion of the construction project aimed at providing housing support to the families affected by a devastating fire in Camp 11 of the Rohingya camps in Ukhia upazila under Cox’s Bazar district.
    HFHB, in partnership with World Vision, has constructed a total of 100 houses, facilitating the recovery of the affected families.
    On March 5, 2023, a tragic fire engulfed Camp 11 in the Rohingya camps, resulting in significant damage to the community. A total of 2,805 houses were affected, leaving countless families displaced and in dire need of shelter and support.
    At the request of RRRC, World Vision and HFHB responded to the crisis in coordination with the Camp In Charge (CIC) of camp 11 and IOM. Through dedicated efforts, compassion, and teamwork, the organizations have successfully completed the construction of 100 houses, following the approved design by the RRRC. Affected families can now rebuild their lives in a safe and secure environment.
    The handover ceremony for the completed houses took place on Thursday (June 8) symbolizing a significant milestone in the recovery process for the affected families.
    The ceremony was graced with the presence of Md. Al Imran, senior assistant secretary; Camp in charge of Camp 11; Md. Maksudur Rahman Assistant secretary and camp in charge of camp 11 ; respective Country Directors of HFHB and World Vision; Mathieu Gamba, HFHB’s Head of Cox’s Bazar Sub-Office, Fredrick Christopher, Response director WVI, George Sarkar, manager Grant; communication WVI, Tushar Chakrabarty, Project Coordinator HFHB; local authorities, community leaders, and the families who received a new house.
    HFHB would like to express its deepest gratitude to all the volunteers, donors, and partners who supported this project and the overall response The collective effort of all those involved demonstrates the power of unity and compassion in times of crisis. The completion of these houses is a testament to HFHB commitment to providing vital assistance to vulnerable communities in times of need.
