    Drug peddlers arrested
    Local thana police arrested four drug peddler with ganja from Sannil Para of the Bera upazila town under Pabna district on Saturday.
    Bera Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Morshedul Islam said that upazila administration and narcotic department conducted a mobile court at Sannil Para after with the base of secret information.
    He said the arrestees are Nahid Hasan (28), Md. Shirazul Islam (50), Md. Shamim Sardar (24), Md. Rubel (28) of the town.
    A case has been filed against them.

    Law and order review meeting held
    The law and order situation review meeting was held at Bera Upazila administration office auditorium of Pabna district on Thursday.
    Md. Morshidul Islam, Bera Upazila Nirbahi Officer, presided over the meeting.
    Among others, Brea press club President M A Hannan, journalist MD Sofiul Azam Altu, DGM, Polli Bidyut Samity, Health and Family Planning Officer, Bera model Thana OC and Nagarbari river police station spoke on the occasion.
    Md Abul Bashar presented a financial survey/assessment report.
    After the meeting, UNO Bera Md. Murshidul Islam and Bera upazila social welfare officer MD Hussain Sarkar distributed Tk. 9 lakh and fifty thousand among the poor patients who are suffering from non communicable diseases (kidney, liver, heart and cancer).
    19 patients received the money.

    Unilever and Kewkradong organized coastal cleanup campaign
    Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL), has partnered with Kewkradong Bangladesh (KB) to conduct Coastal Cleanup at the Saint Martin Island. 350 volunteers removed 1,500 kilograms of marine debris from the island beach and ensured safe disposal in the mainland. The predominant types of debris included food wrappers, plastic beverage bottles, bottle caps, plastic bags, utensils, and lids.
    Kewkradong Bangladesh (KB), Bangladesh Country Coordinator of the US-based non-profit Ocean Conservancy, has been conducting beach cleanups at Saint Martin Island for the past 13 years.
    The organisation has been associated with cleanup programmes along the Cox Bazar - Teknaf peninsula and St. Martin Island. These initiatives contributed to the collection of data on marine debris for the global record and analysis. This year, the initiative gains new momentum with the involvement of UBL, continuing the significant efforts that have mobilized over 5,700 volunteers and removed more than 28,500 kilograms of marine debris from the island shores.

    Mobile court fined sand trader
    A mobile court fined one Tk. lakh for illegally extracting and selling sand from the river Jamuna in Bera upazila of Pabna district today.
    Md. Morshidul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Bera, Pabna along with S.I.Ruhul Amin, river police, Nagarbari conducted the mobile court at Mohonganj point under Bera upazila in Pabna district at 10.00am.
    They arrested Md. Johurul Islam for lifting sand from the river.
    A case was filed as per Balu Mohal and Land Management Law,2010,15(1).
