PM stresses strengthened global solidarity, coordinated response to address crisis

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today laid emphasis on strengthening global solidarity and adopting coordinated response to address crisis as she placed four recommendations in this regard joining the G20 Summit here.
"Here G20 and international financial institutions have crucial role to play, and Bangladesh is ready to support their efforts for tailoring actionable recommendations to tackle the crisis," she said in her first recommendation addressing "One Earth" session in the summit.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is attending the summit at Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre of Pragati Maidan at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

At least 1020 killed in Morocco quake: new toll

MARRAKESH, Morocco: At least 820 people have died in a devastating earthquake that struck near Morocco tourist hotspot of Marrakesh, authorities said Saturday, updating an earlier toll of more than 1020.
Another 672 people were injured, including 205 in a critical condition, the interior ministry said, after the late-Friday quake that measured 6.8, making it Morocco strongest ever recorded.

Hasina, Modi agree to strengthen Dhaka-Delhi relationship further

NEW DELHI: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Norendra Modi today during a bilateral meeting expressed their satisfaction over the existing deep relationship between the countries and simultaneously agreed to take effective steps to strengthen the relationship further.
"Both the prime ministers expressed satisfaction over the existing deep relationship between Bangladesh and India and agreed to take effective steps to strengthen further this relationship," Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told reporters while briefing about the outcome of the bilateral meeting of the two premiers.
Besides, he said that Modi also laid emphasis on resolving the outstanding issues between the two countries through amicable discussion.
"Indian prime minister laid emphasis on resolving the outstanding issues between the two countries through talks at the official level," he added.

PM for stopping Russia-Ukraine war peacefully through negotiations

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today called for finding a way to stop the Russia-Ukraine war through negotiations and a peaceful manner.
She made the call when Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov paid a courtesy call on her at the latter official Ganabhaban residence here this morning prior to her departure for New Delhi, India to attend the G-20 Summit.
PM Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Jahid Tusher briefed reporters after the meeting.
Lavrov arrived in Dhaka on Thursday evening on a two-day visit after attending the East Asia Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia.
This is the first-ever visit to Bangladesh by any Russian Foreign Minister since independence.
