Marginal dairy farmers desire milk marketing scope

Marginal and medium dairy farmers in the city and its outskirts need proper milk marketing scope for making their business profitable and sustainable together with boosting the dairy sector.
Golam Rahid, a dairy farmer of Assam Colony area in the city, said dairy farming has now become essential in terms of fulfilling protein demands but expensive due to price-hiking of cow feed items, medicines and other requisite inputs.
After struggling for survival many frustrated farmers closed their business due to financial hardship. But, their cow-sheds and other infrastructures remained empty till now in intact condition. Mainly, they abandoned their business due to lack of marketing facilities incurring huge financial loss.

International Day for Indigenous people celebrated

The International Day for Indigenous People was celebrated in the district today with a call to raise awareness and protect their rights on social and cultural diversities.
This year theme of the day is “Participate in Preserving the Existence of the Tribal and Establishing Fundamental Rights”.
Marking the day, Adibashi-Bangali SanghatiParishad, Sahebganj Bagdafarm Bhumi Uddhar Sangram Committee, Citizen Platform-Jana Uddyog and Samazik Sangram Parishad jointly arranged the function.
In the morning around 11 am, a post rally discussion meeting was also held on the premises of Gaibandha Nattyo and Cultural organization with Dr. Philimon Baske, President of Sahebganj Bagdafarm Bhumi Uddhar Sangram Committee in the chair.

Interim govt to try its best to improve lives, livelihoods of people: Salehuddin

Adviser to the Ministries of Finance and Planning of the newly formed interim government Dr Salehuddin Ahmed today said that the new government would try to deliver its best to improve the lives and livelihoods of the people.
"We want to establish an equal and just-based society and country and our aim is to ensure increasing peoples income alongside reducing inflation. We will try our best regarding the lives and livelihoods of our people," he said while talking to reporters after assuming office at the Ministry of Finance at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Answering to a question on the formation of the banking commission, he said the priority of the government is to restore trust of common people in the banks alongside resuming the operations of the central bank fully. "Then we will work on bringing reforms," he added.

Chief Adviser, 13 advisers pay tributes to Liberation War martyrs at Savar

SAVAR: Chief Adviser of the newly formed interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus and thirteen advisers paid homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar this morning.
At first, Dr Yunus placed the wreath around 10am amid heavy rain and stood in solemn silence here for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs of the 1971 War of Liberation.
A smartly turned-out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force presented a state salute on the occasion when bugles played the last post.
