Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said that some people who are thinking of assuming power over dead bodies are very inhuman.
"I do not see such brutality anywhere else as those who want to assume power through killing people. It is beyond imagination to think,” she said while addressing the Armed Forces Day-2023 Reception at Senakunja at Dhaka Cantonment here.
Sheikh Hasina said, “I do not know. . . my question is why people are burnt alive and killed? I still do not understand why buses are being torched and state properties are being destroyed.”
The man, convicted of shooting Bangladesh founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dead, sped away as Canadian national CBC TV network approached him for comments on his role in the assassination and the story he told the Canadian officials for his protection.
"Sir, if we could just have . . . just a quick conversation . . . I just want know if you have been truthful with Canadians about your role in the assassination," a CBC TV journalist was seen asking someone onboard a white SUV car, which was about to get started.
The man was one of fugitive convicts, sacked major Nur Chowdhury, while CBS TV investigative journalist Mark Kelly described him as someone who pitted Canada against Bangladesh as he was living in Canada for the past 27 years.
A total of 15 female fighters have joined the
Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) for the first time in the history of
fire service in the country.
As per the appointment letters, the female firefighters officially joined the
force on Saturday at FSCD Multipurpose Training Complex in Purbachal of
Narayanganj, Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Media Cell official

The Election Commission (EC) has informed the visiting Commonwealth pre-election assessment mission of the polls preparation as the 12th parliamentary election will be held on January 7.
A four-member delegation of the pre-election assessment team of the Commonwealth was informed about the 12th parliamentary polls as it held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal and other election commissioners at the Nirbachan Bhaban here today.
Following the meeting, Linford Andrews, adviser and head of the Electoral Support of Governance and Peace Directorate of the Commonwealth (staff team leader), said they will make recommendations regarding Bangladesh polls to the Commonwealth secretary general to decide next steps.
