Elections will be held in due time as per constitution: Salman

Prime Minister Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman today said the next national elections will be held in due time as per the constitution and the arson terrorism of BNP-Jamaat alliance cannot stop it.
"BNP-Jamaat alliance has started to carry out arson terrorism again in the name of movement ahead of the national polls. These activities have brought down their popularity to zero," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a gathering of valiant freedom fighters at Nawabganj area.

One held over death of actor Humaira Himu

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday arrested a man in the capital in connection with the death of actor Humaira Himu.
The arrestee is Himu friend Md Ziauddin Alias Rufi, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al-Moin confirmed.
He said: “Md Ziauddin alias Rufi relation to Himu death is being investigated. He is being interrogated.”
The details will be revealed at a press conference in the afternoon, said the RAB official.

Govt announces Hajj packages for 2024, reduces Tk 92,450

The government has announced the Hajj packages for 2024, reducing the cost by Taka 92,450 compared to the last year.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan today announced two Hajj packages- Taka 5,78,840 for the general package and Taka 9,36,320 for the special package- at a press briefing at the secretariat here.
He said the cost of general package for Hajj under the government arrangement has been fixed at Taka 5,78,840, which was Taka 6,71,320 in the last year.

PM to donate Tk 10cr more to Journalist Welfare Trust

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today announced to give a grant of another Taka 10 crore to the Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust (BJWT), constituted by the Awami League government to provide financial support to media people during their needs.
The premier made the announcement at the Representative Conference-2023 of BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists at the National Press Club in the city.
