Medical Education Accreditation Bill passed in JS

SANGSAD BHABAN: Bangladesh Medical Education Accreditation Bill, 2023 was passed in the Jatiya Sangsad with an aim to ensure quality medical education by acknowledging the education curriculum and the concerned institutions through providing accreditation certificates.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque moved the bill in the House and passed by voice votes with Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Shamsul Huq Tuku in the chair.
While placing the bill, the minister said an accreditation council will be formed to recognize the medical educational institutions of the country. Anyone going abroad to provide medical treatment or study medical science has to have approval from the Bangladesh Accreditation Council.

Bangladesh, Indonesia agree to work together in energy, health sectors

JAKARTA, Indonesia: Dhaka and Jakarta today vowed to work together in energy, agriculture and health sectors as Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin had a bilateral meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit here.
"Bangladesh and Indonesia earlier singed three MoUs (memorandum of understanding) on energy and health sectors that created huge opportunity to work for welfare of the two countries," Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said in a media briefing after the meeting.
The Bangladesh President is now on a visit to Indonesia to attend the 43rd summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and 18th East Asia summit at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) here.

Govt Primary School Teacher Welfare Trust Bill 2023 passed in JS

SANGSAD BHABAN: The Government Primary School Teacher Welfare Trust Bill, 2023 passed in Parliament today aiming at bearing the expense of education of minor child of teacher if they die during service.
Primary and Mass Education State Minister M Zakir Hossain moved the bill in the House and it was passed by voice votes with Deputy Speaker Shamsul Huq Tuku in the chair.
As per the bill, if a teacher dies during service, the expense of education of his or her minor child will be given till they become adult.

Janmashtami celebrated with due religious fervour

The country Hindu community today celebrated Janmashtami, the holy occasion of birth of Lord Sri Krishna, also known as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, with due religious fervour and gaiety.
Sri Krishna was born to Devaki and her husband Vasudeva in Mathura (present-day Uttar Pradesh, India) to which Krishna parents belonged.
Different religious, cultural and social organisations chalked out elaborate programmes in observance of the Janmashtami across the country.
Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee have taken up a two-day programme centrally at Dhakeshwari National Temple here.
