
Public university teachers across the country will go on an indefinite work abstention from tomorrow as the government has not heeded their demand to reinstate previous pension facilities in place of the Universal Pension Scheme.
Nizamul Hoque, secretary general of Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers Association, announced the programme in the afternoon today, when teachers were observing a full-day work abstention at the Dhaka University Arts building.
“The work abstention programme will continue until our demand is met,” Nizamul said while briefing the media this noon.

Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has instructed to enhance time in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations in view of inclement weather.
HSC examinees in different places across the country, including Dhaka and Chattogram, today faced problem to reach examination centers due to rain and water-logging.
Dhaka Education Board Chairman and Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President Tapan Kumar Sarkar said according to weather forecasts, it may rain in the next 5-7 days.

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has extended the period
for payment against imports of industrial raw materials from 180 to 360 days,
maintaining this arrangement until December 2024.
Previously, this facility was set to expire in June of the current year, as
per a BB circular issued here today.

Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of India, will pay a four-day official visit from July 1-4, aiming to consolidate bilateral defence relations between Bangladesh and India and to explore new avenues for Naval cooperation.
The visit of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Indian Navy will further “strengthen the strong bonds of friendship” between the navies of both countries, said the Indian Ministry of Defence on Sunday.
The Indian Navy chief is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with his counterpart Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of the Naval Staff, Bangladesh Navy in Dhaka, as also review the passing out parade scheduled at Bangladesh Naval Academy (BNA) at Chattogram on July 4.
