Indian Navy chief to visit Bangladesh July 1-4

Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of India, will pay a four-day official visit from July 1-4, aiming to consolidate bilateral defence relations between Bangladesh and India and to explore new avenues for Naval cooperation.
The visit of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Indian Navy will further “strengthen the strong bonds of friendship” between the navies of both countries, said the Indian Ministry of Defence on Sunday.
The Indian Navy chief is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with his counterpart Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of the Naval Staff, Bangladesh Navy in Dhaka, as also review the passing out parade scheduled at Bangladesh Naval Academy (BNA) at Chattogram on July 4.

JS passes Taka 7,97,000cr budget for FY25

The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) today passed the Taka 7,97,000 crore national budget for FY25 with a prime focus on maintaining economic stability and augmenting steps to materialise the government "Smart Bangladesh" vision.
Despite the global volatile condition and adversities, the budget for the next fiscal eyed a 6.75 percent GDP growth while containing the inflation within 6.50 percent.
Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali moved the Appropriations Bill, 2024 today, seeking a budgetary allocation of Taka 12,41,752 crore which was passed by voice votes.
Earlier yesterday, the parliament passed the Finance Bill, 2024 with some minor changes. Following the proposal mooted in the House by the Finance Ministry for the parliamentary approval of the appropriation of funds for meeting necessary development and non-development expenditures of the government, the ministers concerned placed justifications for the expenditure by their respective ministries through 59 demands for grants.

PM receives over Tk 314cr as Padma Bridge loan repayment installments

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today received over Taka 314 crore as the 7th and 8th installments of loan repayment taken for the construction of the Padma Bridge.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader handed over a cheque of Taka 314,64,86,963 to the Prime Minister as the seventh and eighth installments of loan for Padma Bridge at a programme at the Ganabhaban here.
PM Principal Secretary M Tofazzel Hossain Miah, PMO secretary Mohammad Salahuddin, PM Press Secretary M Nayeemul Islam Khan, Finance Division Secretary Dr. Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder and other concerned high officials were present at the programme.

20 envoys visit safe mango production

Ambassadors, high commissioners and heads of mission of about 20 countries in Dhaka today visited safe mango production activities in Chapainawabgani district as mangoes are being produced there following the good agricultural practices (GAP) to increase its export abroad.
In the afternoon, they visited the mango orchard of farmer Ruhul Amin, who is following good agricultural practices in mango production, in Kandbona village under Nachole upazila.
During the visit, the envoys appreciated this initiative of Bangladesh and were impressed by the safe mango production process, said a press release of the Agriculture Ministry.
