PM seeks enhanced bilateral trade between Bangladesh, Kosovo

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said Bangladesh and Kosovo can increase bilateral trade for mutual benefits.
"There are a lot of opportunities to increase the volume of bilateral trade and Kosovo can be greatly benefitted by importing top quality ready-made garments and pharmaceutical products (from Bangladesh) at the affordable price," she said.
She said this when Kosovo Ambassador to Bangladesh Guner Ureya paid the farewell call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganabhaban residence here.

Army will act as striking force in polls: EC Alamgir

GAZIPUR: Election Commissioner Md Alamgir today said army will be deployed as striking force in the national elections to be held on January 7.
He came up with the comments while talking to journalists following a view-exchange with the district returning officer, assistant returning officer and local administration and members of law enforcement agencies at deputy commissioner office here.
Alamgir said safety of voters will be ensured in coming to polling centers as well as after casting votes.

Dhaka does not pay heeds to others: Momen on Russian comments

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said Dhaka does not pay heeds to what other countries are saying as Bangladesh maintains sovereign balanced foreign policy.
“Who said what … this is their headache. We do maintain sovereign balanced foreign policy … rest, I do not know” he told the reporters when they drew his attention on recent Russian statement on Bangladesh.
On Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson MV Zakharova said, "If the results of the people will are not satisfactory to the United States, attempts to further destabilize the situation in Bangladesh along the lines of the Arab Spring are likely".
